Hi all, when u press and hold the wifi button from the drop down menu from the top of the phone, (shortcut) it takes u to the wifi networks available, when u go into the one u always use, it used to show u the Connection speed of ur phone to the router, now with this latest update, it shows ur password and security (WPA2) etc.... but it doesn't show the connection speed anymore!
That was a great help to me to know if my internet is running at the speed it should be. ie when ur connected to 2.4ghz the max connection speed is 144mbs, I'm on the Virgin Media 1Gb Super Hub which usually shows 1.2Gb, this is not download speed but connection speed, which is the speed of ur device to the internet Hub (if not on 1Gb) you'll probably see the maximum connection speed of 866mbps or lower, Well that's gone now! Any idea of how to get it back?

I absolutely agree. I chose Android specifically because it was supposed to let me customize and have access to a deeper level of my device. I have been so disappointed with the continual slide toward more restrictions on the devices I own.

Hey, i tried it. It worked thanks. Only that i couldnt find ny settings for the network speed to show with the network names in the wifi list.

Also, could we hide back this "connectivity labs" option?

It is not worth it I don't need to know what my security is, I wNt to know my network speed is, to see of my router bandwidth is working at all, it could be all over the place this is not acceptable!!!!!

Guys, by the way, samsung brought it back so it is no longer an issue. I made a video about how to enable it as long you have the new update - https://youtu.be/Hq1wucVo7CE

That's not the info this is going on about. Not the type of band (2.4ghz, 5ghz, etc.) but the actual connection speed like you would get if you went and did a speed test where it would be mbps/gbps

Brother, You are confused. What I replied about and made a video about is exactly what this topic is about. As it says right at the top of the post, this is not download speed but connection speed. The reason I found this topic and started discussing it with others is because I used this feature heavily as part of my daily IT work and when Samsung took it away, I was very unhappy. Now it's back and everyone is happy!

Your the one thats confused. Frequency (band) is not the connection speed but the radio fraquency that is being used, it does however impact the possible speeds you get, range of the signal and amount of interference. They want it to show their max connection speed to their router in mbps/gbps again like it did before in the settings for the network your on by clicking the cogwheel to the right of the network name
