Galaxy S9+ NFC on but not working.

I have bought a Hoover washing machine and a dryer which you can use your phone via a app to work the machines via One Touch. I have turned on NFC and Payment in settings, connections, Also turned on Android Beam, then click on the 3 dots at the top to Auto select the default NFC method.

Then opened up the Hoover app and try to connect the phone to the washer or dryer, the NFC is not working on my phone nothing is happening. 

I have read that some people are having problems with the NFC, please can anyone help me with this or does anyone have a washing machine that connects via NFC.

I think its the washing machine not the phone, I've tried to connect my Samsung and Huawei, neither connect. The light doesn't come on when you turn the dial to one touch either. To be honest though I can work the washing machine myself without an app telling me what to do.
