Hi guys.

Just installed a glass screen protector and now the in screen finger print scanner does not work. Does anyone know if this is a problem with all phones with in screen scanners as it won't even read to do a new finger print.

Thanks

I had a phone professional install my Whitestone glass screen protector on my S21 Ultra and it still didn't work. Even after upping the sensitivity

Then you've installed it wrong. I've had one on my S21 Ultra since I got the phone back at the start of the year. The fingerprint scanner works just fine.

Yeah strange. Definetly can say it was done correctly. Got it done by a professional that installs these things daily for a living. I'm taking it back to the shop tomorrow though to see if she can get it working again.  Fingers crossed 🤞

Have you added your fingerprints after the screen protector was added?

If you look at Whitestone's instructions / video re the fingerprint scanner area they have detailed instructions on that area on installation Been so long I can't remember exactly but think was to do with keeping the UV light thingy over that area for a bit longer and also to do new print scans

I'm having the same issue with my brand new Samsung Galaxy S21plus, using an expensive Panzerglass screenprotector that explicitly claims to be compatible with the ultrasonic fingerprint.

I tried all the tips and tricks that were stated here (deactivate touch sensitivity and reactivating it, moisture the screen and my finger, delete existing fingerprints, reboot...)

I went back to the shop and they gave me a new screenprotector (same brand, same type), I have installed it perfectly and still the issue remains.

Error-message: "Make sure your finger covers the entire sensor." (Of course, it does and of course I have tried to put my finger a bit to the left and to the right).

Such a waste of money

I went back to a classic screen protector, so not tempered glass and there it works perfectly again. it's already that. I really think Samsung's fingerprints are incompatible with protective glasses ...

Hi, have the S21 Ultra with tempered glass (one with the UV ray, bought on Amazon).

As most of us, originally had the trouble with using or registering the fingerprint after applying it.  But with the 3 tricks, now I everything is fine and working like a charm.

  1. Enable "Touch Sensitivity"  under the Display settings
  2. When you register your fingerprint, be patient, it won't be as simple and easy as non-glass.  What I did was really press my thumb "hard".  I believe with the glass, more pressure is required for the sensor to detect.  Pressing it hard only requires when registering.  Once registered, reading to unlock the phone does not require as much pressure.   So just be patient and make sure you press it hard with your thumbs!
  3. You can register 4 fingers, make sure to register twice for each of your thumb.  This will make the accuracy and the chance to read properly go up.

Hope this helps to some.

Good luck!

After upgrading to Android 12 I actually managed to add my thumb twice with only applying a good amount of extra preassure... But it still doesn't work when trying to actually unlock the phone with it.

Useless technology IMO, the phone is for work and I will never use anything but a good tempered glass, I should not have to remove the phones physical protection to use the safest biometric for unlocking it. Face-unlock and Smart Lock gets me by, no thanks to this hyped ***** :S Why not keep the ceramic biometric sensors as well...
