Bottom line of keyboard covered

When doing the Telegraph crossword, it has started to cover the bottom line of the keyboard with the swipe buttons. If I remove the buttons, I lose the functionality to go back or have several apps open. Any ideas?

Hi Robot, I have the same issue. Can you tell me please how i change from buttons to swipe gestures? Thank you.

In settings you can hide the buttons, use gestures instead, swipe left to go back etc...

I googled where the setting was ages ago, give that a go
