Since Jan 22 update my battery dies several   times a day even if minimal use. My partner has s21 just updated also and now doing the same thing

All cache emptied and certain apps as Facebook and maps disabled and still doing it

Terrible update

Happened to me too, i upgraded samsung s20+ from Android 10 to latest Android 12 official update - what a huge mistake! My battery life went down to about half of what it used to be! After one month no improvement. I'm mega disappointed by samsung.

Hate to open an old post, but this has now started occurring on my Note 20 Ultra. Inspecting the battery usage shows that One UI is now chewing through >10% since last charge and 10hrs of that is background usage. Planned obsolescence sounds like.

Unfortunately, and per most of the other postings, that's not what's happened. I used to get a healthy 11-12 hours (max, which was disappointing anyway), but since the update I get 6-7. AND that's with Battery Saving and Data Saver on. The June update made it even worse. This was a ***** update. Samsung should just admit it and fix it.

I have a Samsung S8 & after the 2022 security update it killed my battery within a few hours. After checking in battery usage in device care I found it was Bixby that was causing the problem. I don't use it and although you can't remove it from  your phone you can uninstall it from your Samsung account. Now my phone is perfect looses 3 percent in 5 hours on standby. If you don't use the program might be worth giving it a go.

Great advice, thank you. I'll give it a go.

I don't use Bixby either (what a silly app to begin with...), but have no idea how to uninstall something from my entire account. Sorry to be so ignorant, but would you mind providing a few step-by-steps? I assume I sign into the account on line, but no idea where to go from there. I did hunt around and just tried this but am not sure how complete a fix it is:

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Bixby Voice.
  2. Tap Bixby Voice settings.
  3. You will then need to sign into Bixby.
  4. Turn off the Voice Wake-Up, Use While Phone Locked, and Marketing Notifications toggles.
  5. Tap Notifications and turn off Show Notifications.
  6. Tap Unlink Device and remove Bixby from your account.

I've also had a bit of luck by keeping Power Saving on all the time. I was using the Data Saver but it interfered with too many other things.

Did removing Bixby help or is it something else?

I have the same problem with S8. After last update, which should advance GPS problem, it made it worst.

Battery drains is few hours. The only solution is to TURN OFF GPS. But sometimes I really need it... 😞
