Who needs a compass more than a torch in a pinch?

In the Samsung Galaxy UI design meeting for the edge panel, I really want to know who who was the genius who decided that the default, uneditable setting of the tool menu should be the compass. 

Honestly, a compass? 

This isn't Moana's phone. I'm pretty sure that the need for Wayfinding is relatively rare in this age. The sun setting though, is pretty common. Look out the window at night @Samsung and make the order of the tools panel in the edge panel editable.

I just use double press power button to turn on/off the torch, problem solved.

You could just press the three dots and choose from tally counter, torch, surface level or ruler, and that tool remains the "default " until changed for preference. Am I missing the point?

Yep, that could work except I already have this assigned to open the camera.

You'd think this would be the answer, but if you try it, you'll see that the setting isn't persistent. The new "default" reverts to the dumb compass after a relatively short while. In fact, that reversion, happening for the umpteenth time was the impetus for me to make this post in the first place.
