You can't log in to Spotify and have your music shown in the app.

When you tap a song, the Spotify app opens up, taking you away from the Samsung music app.

What is the point in it or am I using it wrong?

Hi You probably need to add the music on your phone to the Spotify app. Try

  1. Tap Home

    .
  2. Tap Settings

    .
  3. Switch Show local audio files on.

Your stored music is now in Local Files in Your Library

If I'm using Spotify, I don't want to use the music on my phone though. I want to go the Spotify tab and see my Spotify library there.

Otherwise, what purpose does it actually serve being in the music app? I can't seem to even log into my Spotify account so I don't understand what it is for?

If you want to turn the spotify function off on Samsung Music, try 3 dots
Settings
Manage Tabs
And then Unclick on Spotify.
Hope this helps

That's the opposite of what I am asking.

I am asking how to use it.

How do I log in with my Spotify account?

If I can't, why is it there?

Oh sorry, I misunderstood your question. When you click on Spotify and click on certain music advertised does it not take you to account login so you can sign in?

That's ok.

It just opens the Spotify app which I am already logged into.

I think that having Spotify in the music app doesn't actually serve any purpose at all and is just an advert for Spotify. It would be great if it were actually integrated and worked within the app.

Samsung should really buy itself a music license and create Samsung music as a separate music streaming service and release it on all platforms just like Apple do with their Apple music. because selling phones isn't that profitable as it used to be

as of now this seems like a set up for something great, because the animations within the samsung music app is so fluid compared to spotify on android, and there are some settings that can change the way the audio works to the phone itself, instead of adding some filters over the audio and what else spotify adds, there isnt a reason for samsung to invest a bunch of resources in this app if it wasn't going to pay off , they do have partnership together so i think they are setting it up for when they push out an update adding Spotify functionality into the app.

but who knows, this could be me speculating and being optimistic lol

I am on a Korean handset. Here Samsung Music contains a tab called Melon instead of Spotify. This actually allows you to login via some Kukao or similar accounts and sync your music.
