That's really sad to hear
@Fiona26.
A year ago I was pretty sceptical about AI and it's use cases in people's daily lives. Being 'old school' and from an era where I remembering a life without phones and computers, this level of progression that we are currently in, threatens the way I believe life should be lived.
Being an engineer I have also seen electronics designs move from something that used to be discreet components of transistors, capacitors etc... to now all being done on a microchip and in software. In some ways this is progression... in other ways it threatens an industry and changes the way of working, skillset needed, and makes things more automated.
No industry is more threatened in todays world than that of art and graphic design
😔. My daughter is just finishing a degree at uni in graphic design and is genuinely worried about what the future holds.
The pace of AI right now and the power it has gained mean it really could damage reputations, encourage companies and potential customers to just use AI for their marketing campaigns, and generally take over an industry that requires great skill and vision.
I do worry for the world in future generations, probably way past my own time on the planet.
So with mobile phones, over time features have been added. Some are genuinely helpful in daily life such as being able to use Gemini to seach for train times, book a table at a restaurant etc etc. However it is not always entirely accurate... sometimes the data is incorrect or slightly out of date.
Some things are just fun. Drawing a parrot on a photo and making your mate look like a pirate
😂 😂... or likewise. Additionally all these AI dolls on socials being a latest fad... and more recently all these baby AI videos... some hilarious... but mostly not damaging to anyone... just a bit of fun.
I guess it concerns me that often with a naked eye, it is not easy to always see what is 'AI generated' and what isn't. A modified photo taken with phone, things and people removed from photos and then saved... often it is very hard to tell now. Watermarks that state AI generated are also easily removed.
A rough sketch picture drawn and then AI generated can be very hard to distinguish from a real drawing that has taken days of hard work and effort.
There is some great content that can be provided by AI... i have no issue with that so long as it is apparent it is AI generated and it is not being attempted to being passed off as being a genuine work.
@Sonora produces some amazing work with her AI vision and I equally enjoy seeing her work... but she is transparent it is from her AI world and doesnt try and say otherwise. Not everyone is genuine though in their ownership of their work or how it has been produced.
I fear for the world over the next 10 years and how dominant AI will become. Sure, I use it for a bit of fun at times, and when messing around, but I would never pass on work as mine... that was artificially generated.
