Old Phone C3050 has topped registering date

I have an old Samsung phone  model C3050which we use solely for telephone calls and Texts. January of this year it suddenly stopped registering the date or time, resetting it every time it is turned off to 01-Jan-2010. I have been into settings and set the Automatic Date Time Update to "authorised" which should set it to to the network Date Time but to no avail.

One dealer suggested it was  "too old" 'but I don't want a smart phone and it works perfectly except for the Date/Time Function.   I cannot see any reason why the Date Time should be limited if it uses the Network link to reset the date every time it is turned on.

Any ideas?

It might be a bug. As in, some part of the code in the phone breaks when the date is set past a certain point. Sorta like the y2k bug.

Since it's not a smart phone you can't really have updates and fixes, there's not much you can do.

You could try and get a modern "dumb phone". They still make them with the same features as pre-smart phone devices.

Only real thing to try is resetting the phone and hoping.
