Just upgraded to a S21 Ultra from a S10+

Android auto used to work fine, but now the S21 is not recognised by the car's head unit.

Looking at other posts on the Web I have tried a number of different cables, rolled back the Chrome app update, checked that the phones USB connection is set for data, turned of battery optimisation for Android Auto - all to no avail.

Has anyone got it working?

Hi all, I had a problem with my S10+ and now I have the S21+ my connection problem was resolved by uninstalling Samsung Smart Swap, its automatically downloaded when you swap your old phone to your new Samsung. Works perfectly now 👌

Hi
I just got my s21 ultra to work with Android auto after trying a few things
I suggest if you used samsung smart switch mobile when setting up your phone uninstall it!
And then I used the cable I got in the box with the phone and bought a mini usb c to usb a adapter off amazon was 5.99 for 2. When I used this it started to work fine. Only just got it working tonight so hopefully it will be okay

Before i did this I updated everything including the cars software, and went into developer mode on the phone so I could change the USB settings. But I am not convinced this made the difference...

Hope this helps

Android auto doesn't work with my S21+ since day one on my Chevy Bolt 2021. It works on my Honda CR-V 2017. Tried numerous cables, including the fabled Anker USB 3.1 GEN 2 10Gbps cable, paying $19 for a cable amount all the countless cables in my collection. At this point I am really upset. Note: my previous S9+ works perfectly fine with the same Chevy Bolt. On S21+ I keep getting "Connect a supported device by USB to use this feature" error. My Android auto icon shows up on my phone. I am really mad at Samsung for not fixing this after so many updates. I own this phone from day 1 and I had been patiently waiting for firmware upgrade for so long. Finally I gave up when even July patch failed to fix this. If I knew this ahead of time, I would've surely bought an iphone

Exactly the same issue here. Gone from S10+ to the S21 ultra and it will just not connect. Can't use the cable that came with the phone as that is usb-c to usb-c so would need to buy and adapter or new cable. But I have tried other UsB to USB c cables with no joy.

Having read this thread I have just uninstall smart switch so will try again later today

You're a genius! I've tried so many cables I was losing my mind! Even bought expensive cables from Amazon and other sites. Some didn't even charge the phone! I had never thought to try my buds pro cable! Had my car 6 months and now I can finally enjoy Android auto on my 2020 ioniq hybrid and s21 ultra. Samsung should send every s21 series owner this cable for free for our aggravation. People will leave for Apple.  You need to get your act together Samsung!

I had sthe same problem with my 208 car and S23+, I tried original samsung cable of A32 and other one with no luck, after I read comments saying that buds pro cable works, I tried my fried buds pro cable and it worked like a charm, but when he tried it in his s20 ultra it didn't work, at least it worked in my 23+ now I have to start trying diffrent cables untill I found the one the works
