Add an independant emergency backup gps tracker to smart phones

following the sad situation of hostiges in isreal, if phones would have an independant backup gps tracking device that works even when phone is off or  main batery drained it can be a life saver, for loved ones we can not contact . to at least see where they may be at the moment

There would need to be a new hardware revision for this to work - an option in the meantime would be a smart tag or similar.

I doubt people would be happy not to have total control over their phones especially with something that can track their movements. All it needs is for the system to be hacked which would provide fantastic intelligence for an enemy.
People complain about a few MBs of bloatware on their phones so this won't go down too well.

GPS is a big battery drain, too and how would it work having navigation as well?
I doubt this is workable or indeed wanted.

Please no. GPS is the highest cause of battery usage, also it's not needed to have a separate GPS on your device, nor would it be wanted by many people. I get where your coming from but no.
