This is mainly a rant post to add visibility to a problem that already has been pointed out, but is too important to not be taken into consideration.

Samsung Health is a fun, intuitive and motivating app to use and help keeping track of one's own progress. I've finally found myself being on schedule for once with keeping track of my habits, and this had never happened before.

But it all comes to waste when your disability or different lifestyle is not even remotely taken into account. Wait, I just mentioned "different lifestyle"... But what I'm talking about is not actually uncommon at all !

I've read unemployed, or retired people not being able to have accurate sleep coach advice because the app forces you to have work days !!

I've read wheelchair users who were constently reminded they didn't meet their walking goals !!

I've tried to keep track of my hormonal cycle to get a better understanding of my body, but the first (unskippable) question asked is about my last period. Did you know there were menstruating people who don't actually have periods but still have hormonal variations ?

In my own experience too and I'm sure I'm far from being the only one, I struggle with mental health and autism. I would have needed the app to take this into accound before assessing I sleep for too long whenever I get the chance to. Figures a regular, 8h-long sleep day might not be enough for an adult struggling with sensory issues. I'm glad to know my sleep profile is the best for an adult my age but is it for a depressed autistic who needs longer to recover from a "normal" amount of sensory exposure ?

I know disabilities and illness need to be taken care of by a professional.

But we should have the right to understand, manage and be proud of our own progress too, within the range of what we are capable to do, because guess what ? Not everyone is a young, able-bodied sportsy person.

Here are some suggestions for starters

- wake-up mood tracking. Are we actually feeling well rested after a "normal" night ?

- wheelchair users fitness exercises

- illness or injury logging whenever necessary

I love tracking my health with the Samsung ecosystem but if someone knows a compatible app that does know about disabilities or out-of-the-box behaviors, I'd like to know !

I am very sorry to hear about your own disability / illness. I guess there are a lot of different people with different problems that would need to be considered.

But with my own circumstances I have to say I disagree in many ways.

I am a person that also has health problems. I have a cardiomyopathy heart problem and I am mostly unable to do exercise and have a pacemaker ICD. My 'disability' is somewhat of a hidden one, but impacts me every day.

I am no longer able to run, cycle or generally do most fitness things. But samsung health is a much bigger thing than this.

- I can monitor my heart rate throughout the day

- perform ECG testing if I feel my heart is beating out of rhythm with an arrhythmia. This might not be 100% accurate but you would be surprised how much different a bad rhythm looks, when compared to a good 'sinus rhythm'.

- I can perform blood pressure tests... if it is calibrated well then the results can be surprising accurate against an armband BP monitor.

- I can check the quality of my sleep during the night and how restful. Often my heart issues cause some problems during sleep. Soon enough (hopefully) there will be an apnea function too... as soon as it passes UK health authority.

- I can track my eating habits, analyse my calories and improve my diet.

Finally, if it decide to go walking I can use the fitness aspects to track my walk against heart rate and how it felt during the walk.

So in the Samsung ecosystem, the Health app is a much larger part than it is assumed to be.

However you are right that it could be improved. If you have any suggestions that you feel the developers might like to hear then feel free to provide them with constructive feedback.

One thing I would like to see is a medications plan / chart to manage the 15 or so tablets that i take every day. 🙏
