Apparently suggestions need to be a post, so here we go again...
Samsung Notes offers to convert handwritten text to typed text. I tried it with rather disastrous results, before finding the language option...
And then it works surprisingly well.
Now, here is the issue with the language selection: I have to go into the settings, the pick the language and find it in a long list...
From a user perspective its a nightmare the very moment one speaks multiple languages.
(I'm liable to write notes in three different languages... - It's already difficult enough to deal with langauges on the keyboard...)
An obvious solution would be to allow the user to select preferred languages that will show at the top of the list.
A bit like Google translate with downloaded languages. There is still the inconvenience of going into settings, but at least the (selected) key languages are directly accessible.
A more involved step would be to offer direct access to preferred languages in the OCR window (similar to the the keyboard using a language key) or maybe even offer multi language OCR (if it works well).
As it stands, OCR works great for monolingual users, but is significantly less useful for multilingual users unless one decides to really try and make use of it...
