What network & google messages or Samsung messages? I had this issues a few years ago. I have a 160 page thread on my profile named rcs

Samsung messages and Vodafone, I've never had this issue before on Vodafone

Yea my issue was samsung messages on EE in 2020. I'm guessing you have done all the usual like restart phone turn rcs on and off. You could make Google the default messages then switch back to samsung messages as the default. That sometimes worked for me.
