I know a few people will think I'm being extreme but I know a lot of people will know what I'm going through. Just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else was in a similar position.

I've not kept it quiet that the new OneUI update doesn't agree with me and I'm aware of all the great customisation tools available but frankly they don't cover some of my bigger issues. As a direct result of the OneUI7 changes (yes I know it's a big step having been completely immersed in the samsung ecosystem for well over a decade) I've decided Samsung and I are no longer a good fit.

I ordered a Garmin solar watch yesterday and was talking to Amazon this morning and they're going to refund the full £1,700+ even though I bought the phone in August 2023 and it's been in constant use. I was just honest with them and said the phone was no longer useable for me due to the recent UI/UX changes. I'll probably stick my Galaxy Watch collection on ebay over the next couple of weeks too.

For now I'll probably promote the Pixel 9a to primary phone status. Unihertz have a new qwerty phone due any week now so I'll probably get that to tide me over until the next Pixel fold phone is released in August.

Samsung, we had a good run, we've had our ups and downs and been on some great adventures but I feel we just want different things and I think it's best to move on. I don't know what the future looks like but I sure as hell know what I don't want it to look like. I hope it's just a phase and our paths cross again but it'll be best if we both explore other demographics/devices.

Hey there

So, we wish you well with the Pixel 9a and stock android. I also like the sound of the Gamin Watch.

Samsung will always be here when you're ready to return. 😊
I am not employed by Samsung nor do I receive any remuneration as a Samsung Members Star.

My device is an S25 Ultra.

Ok good luck. Surprised amazon have agreed to a nearly 2 year old return but ok... if you have that agreement with them.

I dont personally see why there is such a big vendetta against oneui7 at the moment... I see it it as a good improvement over the android 14 variant.

The Fold6 i have in my possession runs great with oneui7, so what exactly makes it 'unuseable' to you is a mystery to me.

Also I am very surprised that the pixel 9 running Android15 makes you happy and yet the samung running android 15 / oneui7 doesnt.

A fairly rash decision to me... but then I only have my own opinion.

I am not about to listen to a long list of UI items you might choose to write that are similar to others... and i am not gonna try and convince you otherwise... I am a bit tired of trying to reason with users why Ui7 is such a dealbreaker for some. It is a good improvement and most of the minor settings can be changed back. If you are gonna say the battery icon has caused you to get rid of your fold phone then I am already laughing myself right now. 😂

I guess you are no longer looking for a solution on samsung forums ... so there is no more to say.

Wish you all the best in your future tech.

obviously you have made your decision and wish you well, not quite sure I follow the logic but looks like there may be other factors. I am also pretty amazed that Amazon accepted your arugument , suppose fair  play to you though.  we will see but possibly stock Android not for you long term.

Generally I think people should give one UI 7 a bit of time and with so much customisation available the things you cannot change are relatively minor in my view.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Wow not bad getting anything after 90 days out of Amazon is nigh impossible, well done.

Suppose if you want Vanilla Pixel is a good way to go.

Wishing you the best 😊

Remember—Just like Samsung, Google also makes Android…and a lot of the issues users have faced are due to Android. I'll be shocked if, when the Pixel does its update, you don't encounter a similar experience in terms of change. But we all have our own needs and our own desired experiences!

At the end of the day, it's a phone, and whatever you find more user-friendly for yourself, the better.

A full refund from Amazon after almost two years. mmmm 🤔
Especially as its way out of the returns period and theres no manufacting defects on the phone.

Why a Pixel 9A and not the 9 Pro
Each to their own I guess
I prefer all the features and customisations I can do on my Samsung phones.

Well do enjoy and hope you find what you are looking for

Happy to provide proof of the return & refund if you don't believe me. When purchasing the phone I double checked the warranty period with Amazon and they confirmed that I can return the phone for any reason if I'm not happy with it in the first 3 years.

The Pixel 9a was a secondary phone, taking over from my S24, I may be financially careless but having 2 top end phones didn't make sense, the 9a was supposed to be in addition to, not a replacement, for my Fold 5. It will likely return to its secondary phone status once the new Pixel Fold (probably, though may go for the Pro XL) once it's released, as it's only only a few months away I don't see the point in going for another Pixel 9 device.

Honestly, I'm glad there are people who like the changes, Samsung have done some great things over the years.

I very well may return one day, let's see what OneUI9 brings.

I've been playing with the garmin instinct 2X Solar (I was going to go for the 3 Solar but the reviews from those who'd upgraded from the 2/2X didn't convince me to spend an extra £100+ on a brand that's new to me) most of the day and I rather like it so far. I wanted a companion device not a full phone on my wrist and this fits the bill nicely, it even says it still has 40 days battery left (yes I know it'll probably change but it still far surpasses the 2 days I get on my watch ultra).
