Zflip 4, you close it, open it and the screen is blank. Tap on the screen and it comes on, intermittently. It was under warranty. Returned to Ingram Micros as per the instructions. Repair refused. Out of warranty they say. They tell the retailer that it has cosmetic damage. It has one green pixel, which just appeared one day. It doesn't affect the operation of the phone. It wasn't sent in for that. So I phoned them and the guy says, its a rubbish phone with poor engineering. The day to day use, basically ***** it. He will send me the report for it. Which I doubt. Now what? The warranty has just expired but the retailer has said my claim was made within the warranty period so as far as they are concerned its a valid claim. I'm waiting now for the phone to be returned. The phone has never been dropped and always kept in a case. It works fine, when it's open.

Just to update this. I received compensation for the phone. Full marks to the retailer.

Hello @Dangermouse123 and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum Section for Uk and Eu Members.
A limited Manufacturer's warranty of 2 years is applied to Samsung phone's in the UK, which covers non accidental damage issues.
If the issue is accidental damage then unless Samsung Care+ was taken out then Samsung would typically apply a charge.
If an unrelated issue exists i.e the pixel then the phone would need to be brought back to warranty standards before repairs can commence.
Sometines Household Contents Insurance may cover mobile phone's ,as well as some bank accounts provide cover as a perk of the account.
Terms and Conditions as well as excess fee's would need to be checked.
However it js the merchant i.e seller of the phone that applies the warranty.
See Consumer-Rights-Act-2015 which is applicable to the UK region.
To be told the phone is a " rubbish phone " isn't professional, or correct in my opinion.
The Samsung Flip⁴ is a powerful unique phone.
I hope you reach an amicable solution.
Please do keep us updated.

Thanks for the reply. Before I can do anything I'll need the exact reason why it was rejected for a warranty repair. Ingrams need to send me the report the engineer produced. Otherwise the retailer can simply reject any claim. Any court claim would undoubtedly expect me to follow the retailers repair procedure first. I don't to be honest know what 'warranty standard ' is? If I had a new car and took it in for a major fault, I wouldn't expect it to be rejected because it had a faulty headlight. Saying we won't repair your phone because it has a dead pixel, which is probably down to the phone not the user, anyway, would be absurd. Unfortunately, none of these people want to cooperate. I contrast my current experience with another warranty claim I had recently with Reolink. I had a faulty cctv camera, just under 2 years old. I did all their checks. They said, its needs replacing. I sent the old one back and they sent me a newer model back. All done in less than a week. That was a £150 camera. Compare that with the service for a £1000+ phone. Samsung really must do better. I've bought their phones for over 20 years. Not after this.

So, I'll just update this. I've mailed the retailer a recorded delivery template letter supplied by Citizens advice. The letter asks them for a resolution, either refund/replacement or repair as per my statutory rights. I tried asking customer service verbally first but I might as well have been speaking a foreign language.
