Ever since I received a software update last night my phone no longer recognises the official clear view case that has worked for months, I have restarted it several times but still no joy. Does anyone have any ideas?

Can you try your case on another Samsung phone as a process of elimination.
Are the preference settings in your phone regarding the case available to see etc if relevant.
Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²² Ultra 256Gb in Phantom Black.

a same problem to me. My S9 do not recognize genuine clear view cover after update on android pie. Cover properly working on oreo, checked on my wife's phone.
I had the same problem, but I find this one solution. Go to the menu setting, general management, reset, reset settings to their defaults. Wait until your phone restart automatically and after that it should be fixed by now..
