Today, my phone decided to change my unlock pattern by itself. By googling I found that some users solved this by restarting their phone. For me, no matter how many times I restarted, the pattern was not accepted. The unlock feature at https://findmymobile.samsung.com/ did not work, as it had apparently not been set up before.
I then chatted with Samsung support, that:
Samsung support did not suggest that:
Instead, I could only use a backup that was three months old as that was apparently the last backup that was made.
When I later chatted with support again to ask WHY I was never presented with this SIMPLE and VALID solution to a problem caused by their product from the start, I was met with excuses like "Because factory reset can break your phone" (No, then why is it an option in the regular settings of the phone?) and "If you used the backup feature, it wouldn't have helped as your phone would be locked again" (No, I'm using my phone with the three month old backup right now!).
I just wanted to share this, in case someone else runs into Samsung's "Pattern change bug" like I did. I've seen hundreds of people on the internet with this issue, and after my run-in with support, it just feels like they don't want you to know the solution, so their service centers can run a similar scam as Apple does: Namely overcharge you for service.
Solved! Go to Solution.

This is this is the ONLY thing that worked for me when my phone decided to change its security pattern without telling me! Pressed the volume down & power button together until the Samsung logo appeared. I then put in my original pattern once prompted & phone was fine! Thank you Sabrinalamamoto!!!

This was really helpful. My wife's phone S8+ also changed its screen lock all by itself. She was still using face recognition to log in but it was unhandy. This simple process fixed the issue.

This solution worked for me after my pin was not accepted. restarted the mobile using this suggestion and pin again started to accept.

My note 10 lock pattern changed on its own. Won't let me put the pattern in. When I go to power phone off it won't let you. When u hit the power off button it locks me out again . It's a note 10 so it doesn't have the power button on the side. I've tried everything. Don't want to lose all my data plus it won't let me even do hard shut down.

i figured it out. Sign in using your Samsung account credentials to https://findmymobile.samsung.com/ and unlock your phone remotely. if it doesn't unlock the first time try it again. it did not unlock the first time for me. it threw up a pop up saying "cannot be unlocked remotely since its had multiple failed attempts(which obviously it did since I tried opening it and my phone just decided to change the patter)" I later again tried unlocking and it worked. do give this a shot.
Cheers

I am entering correct pattern always.but it says incorrect pattern always to me.
