Sure It works but you gotta do it often that's the issue.... and seems like there is no permanent fix

Thank you! Same problem and yes selecting the secure folder and then the home key b4 login works perfectly ! I didn't have to reboot either ! Both my top dropdown and recent keys were affected. Mine was due to a Samsung auto fill that was trying to auto fill an application (with wrong information) and had to scan bio metrics for authorization. This worked perfectly thank you.

The problem was marked SOLVED by temporary fixed, which I was not satisfy with.

After much searching of solution, I believe I found the actual problem and solution. I do need more evidence as I tried on my phone and I no longer facing this problem AT ALL!!

Goto Settings > Search for Optimise battery usage > Press "optimise battery usage" button > the goal is that you want to make sure your SECURE FOLDER apps is not optimised.

On the top right hand corner search for "secure" and find the SECURE FOLDER apps and make sure it is NOT optimised.

Do note, that the name might change if you change your SECURE FOLDER icon name.

eg. I change my to SECURE FOLDER to a name called "PREMIER", then you have to search for the word "PREMIER" instead of SECURE FOLDER.

I do hope this helped some one.

I, too, have been experiencing this issue lately on my Note9. I also discovered the workaround by accident.

I was a beta tester for Android 9 Pie and One UI. I experienced frequent reboots while the phone was idle. I also kept receiving notifications that "Secure Folder" was causing excessive battery usage. Since the official release of Android 9 Pie, I do not see the warnings about Secure Folder battery usage very often. Also, the spontaneous reboots have been reduced, but still occur. However, I am experiencing the loss of the Recents Button and the Notification Shade not responding. I have also had my phone crash during a voice call when I opened the Notification Shade. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM!

Disabling Secure Folder is not an option. (Why would I disable one of the main features of Samsung's version of Android?) For me, Android 8 Oreo on my Note9 was rock solid. I loved my Note9 because it was fast and stable. (Sure, the battery life could be better, but I could rely on my Note9.) Now, I am reconsidering buying another Samsung phone.

Samsung needs to fix this issue, it is getting quite annoying.  Thanks for secure folder tip!  it save time over the reboot.
