gps tracking - OS maps

Hi All,  Has anyone out there an answer to my question?  I have tried using OS maps (Ordnance Survey) and another great app called GPS Essentials to track my cycle rides.  Both apps work fine but only for about 10 minutes.  I am sure I have all the correct settings, eg apps never allowed to go sleep, using a downloaded offline map etc.  However the S9+ insists on stopping the gps tracking.  Why is this?

Check that the app does not "go to sleep" by the phone settings.

Thanks for replying. I do have the apps in question in "never go to sleep mode". I do think I have all my setting correct. The GPS tracking simply stops after a few minutes.
