I am somewhat regretting getting the S9 because I can't complete the simple task of setting individual text tones for my contacts. I also hate that it sounds like I have a text when an email comes in or any other notification that isn't a text since apparently separate apps aren't allowed to have different notification sounds. Please, just put it back to how you had it before Samsung!
Excellent post! Expresses how we all felt about this issue. I can only assume that the people supposedly in the "know" didn't think it would be such a big issue. How wrong they were! Although the problem for me was mostly resolved with an update still frustrating not more straight forward, in fact somewhat hidden.
if you go to messaging
choose individual person
press 3 dots
turn on custom notifications
make sure you have put the required sounds in your notifications folder
When this thread was started....over a year ago...you could not make individual text tones... since this thread was started that have sent thru an update and now we can. No need to give us step by step.....
This is for the message we are complaining about the contact feature ....if we delete the message the tones goes away it used to be in the contacts after ringtone I'm told its Google android that took it away
I have YouTube ways of changing the text / email notifications an it's not possibly. I can't believe my s6 had all the features an this " new phone" doesn't. I am not satisfied with this phone at all. Fingers crossed they fix it with a update!!!
i completely agree. Such a simple feature many of us loved to use. What purpose is it to take it away. It seems like such a simple patch and yet no update yet. I don't really want to use a 3rd party app. It's actually one reason I left apple. but now I kinda regret it
On August the 14th I got an update for my S9 plus on the AT&T network...
And the individual text tones are back ..unfortunately not the background wallpaper feature for text messaging... But I'll take it.
