YouTube causing massive battery spikes

Ok, so as the title states I've been monitoring huge battery spikes whilst using YouTube since I've had the S25 Ultra. It's not always 100% happening, but it does occur sporadically. It's obvious when it arises as the battery can be seen dropping rapidly as well as the obvious heat emanating from the phone. This has never been an issue on my previous Ultra phones or at least noticeable to this degree as on the S25 Ultra. It can easily drain as much as 30% in an hour, where typically it would only be about 5-10%.

I wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this behaviour with their devices.

So I did a test using GPU Watch active and noticed when running the YouTube app it uses Vulkan as the API. I ran a 4K 60FPS HDR video at fixed 2160p settings. It shows around 10 to 20% CPU usage with a few spikes above 30% (probably when caching) and 0 to 2% GPU usage. I decided to run the same video test again using YouTube in Chrome instead and GPU Watch shows N/A for the API used. The CPU usage numbers were about the same but the GPU usage was floating around 20%. The odd thing is, the YouTube app made my phone warm up whereas in Chrome it did not.

If its ONLY YouTube- Im just assuming they've not optimised YouTube for the new update. Could be an issue from either side.

I know its obvious but be sure to contact the support for both samsung and YouTube.

Out of curiosity do you have amazon prime/ netflix/ Disney ect ext? See if this occures on any of those apps.

It's only YouTube where I've experienced this. As I've noticed, the browser version of YouTube doesn't seem to exhibit this problem, but I'll need more time to properly test this.

How strange! I don't use YouTube—"Hopefully," enough people experience this too (which sounds awful) and they fix whatever is causing it
