S25u video calls draining battery

The video calls through WhatsApp or Google meet are drinking the battery on my S25u. I am attaching a screenshot which offers a good reference of the issue. Chrome usage for 1 hour barely used 2.5% whereas few mins of WhatsApp and Google meet consumed significant portion.

Also, I notice the device getting warmer during the calls, I used wifi for the calls not even mobile internet. I didn't used Samsung smart switch for the apps transfer.

This is a big disappointment, I am not expecting a fix any time sooner, as I have seen threads on similar issues on s24u as well.

Please don't say this is not a real issue and mobile will learn the patterns and battery usage becomes better.

I am thinking of returning the device, by eating up the restocking fee. I wish Samsung have strong competitor in android segment, wish one

plus offer better carrier compatibility.

I am thinking of returning the device

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community.

It's expected that the battery will drain more during video calls than when using Chrome.

I'm not quite sure what the issue is. Browsing the internet uses significantly less battery than live streaming/receiving video during a video call, plus camera usage.

How long have you had the device?

"Please don't say this is not a real issue and mobile will learn the patterns and battery usage becomes better" isn't just something people say; it's a fact. The first week I had my device, I was getting maybe 6 hours—after a couple of weeks, it jumped to about 12 with my usage.

I see far less usage for video call on my s20 Fe. So you are saying this is normal and expected for video calls on S25u at least?

Hm, far less than the S20, I wouldn't say so—but seeing as it's happening on all apps, then yes. I've seen a few posts relating to this exact thing.

Maybe go to Samsung Members > Support > Feedback and get the information into the right hands.
