S25 Charging Help

  I just finally upgraded from an S9 to the S25 and I'm notcing the charging is really slow for the S25.  I've noticed a number of posts and stuff searching on the issue, but they seem all more catered to the S25 Ultra and not the standard base S25.

  I used a regular USB to USB-C connected to a computer monitor and that took forever to even charge a tiny bit compared to the S9.  I then took it home and used my wireless fast charger from Samsung and my old phone takes no time to get up there, the S25 stated it would take about 4.5 hours from 40%.

  Is there currently anything I can do in the settings (besides the setup tips and trick videos I've been watching on Youtube)?  Fast charging is enabled and I'm just not sure what I need to do as this is unacceptable to take that long on a fast charger.

  I do have a number of fast charger USB to USB-C, but is there any better ones I can get on Amazon that would help out?  Either way, the wireless charger should be fine, but it's not.

  If it helps the wireless charger is:
Model: EP-N5100

Input: 5.0 V ==; 2.0 A

             9.0 V ==;1.67 A

If that means anything and I got that when I got the S9.

  If I do need to upgrade chargers and cables and such, what would I be looking for as I'm very confused with all the names of 5A and 3A and 25W and so on that I'm seeing all over the place...

Thanks

The regular s25 supports 25w (usb c to usb c) wall charging, and 15w wireless charging (Qi 2.1). You say your wireless charger is 5v 2a which is around 10w and since you got the charger when you got the s9 its likely Qi 1 wireless technology which is limited at 7w output, Qi 2 allows for 15w output , you can google the differences between a Qi and Qi2 wireless charger but basically that's only wirelessly charging the phone at half its capability.

The phone should say when fast charging is active on the lock screen if you have charging details turned on. Using a computer /laptop or monitor ect will charge any modern phone really slow since the ports on those only output around 3w-5w

Anyway I'd recommend using a 25w wall plug charger (usb c to usb c) if you want the fastest charging possible.

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Customer to Customer Forum

Get yourself a 45w charger from Samsung.com (we recommend genuine Samsung products) and use with the cable supplied by the phone.

0 to 100% will take about an hour.

Laptop to Phone is always slow.
Wireless charging is only about 15w so slow.

The Samsung charger you're using is an older wireless charger model which supports up to 9W. You will need a newer wireless charger to fully support the 15W charging of your S25. I would recommend buying at least a 25W USB C PD 2.0 charger for your S25 in order to fully utilise the Superfast Charging of your phone. A 45W would be better for maybe future proofing and price wise, there's is relatively very little difference from 3rd party ones.

Hello 👋 @Khaos526

Charging via a computer will take longer as will using Wireless Charging.

I'd suggest to use the cable that came with the phone and a Samsung Charging Brick that provides fast charging when needed.

May I suggest to perform a forum search as you may find already existing threads with help and advice within in regards to what people use to charge their phone's.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Thanks everyone for all the replies.  Yes I know the monitor to the phone would take a lot longer, but wasn't expecting it to take an insane much time longer than the older phone.  I'll have to look and upgrade the wireless charger then for home as well as for fast charging adapters as well.

  I have several fast charge portable batteries as well, some newer and some older and luckily they have both ports for the older USB and newer USB-C ones.  I'll also get some of the 45w chargers (or 25w min) then as when I travel I want the ability to charge fast at local places if I need to.

  Now for the wireless Qi 2 15w ones, does anyone have a good (decently priced) one that works through a case?  I have a Spigen case, but have been looking at so many ones with reviews saying they won't charge through the case at all.  Another confusing thing I guess.  I don't have the mag thing or whatever it is on the case either so it would have to be a stand up one.

Thanks for explaining all this newer technical stuff to me as well, I was getting so confused with all the new terminology.  Guess that's what happens when you don't update things that often.  I'll be sure to look into all of this then...
