Microsoft ToDo widget

I've been using MS ToDo for years with no problems. It works for me.

I copied it across when I got my S25 and set up the ToDo widget

Occasionally the widget just freezes. Instead of my tasks list, the widget just shows "Updating" but nothing happens.

I can get around the problem by deleting and re-adding the widget, but that's hardly satisfactory.

TBH I'm losing confidence in the app I've come to rely on because of this issue.

Anyone else experienced a similar problem?

I'd check battery optimisation for the app. Failing that uninstall it and then reinstall.

It could simply be an MS ToDo app problem with your new phone /software. I quickly searched to see if anyone else was having similar issues but couldn't find anything that helped, unfortunately.

Having been around the Android and the Android modding scene for many years I've got to say that many problems arise from migrating data from one device to another, there will always be bugs and incompatibilities. It's much better to install things fresh.

Copying from backups and migrating data from different devices is such a lazy thing to do. I think options like this should only be available as a last resort. I rarely see problems when installing everything fresh compared to dirty installs.

@T1Cybernetic has the right idea -- but its also worth mentioning that Microsoft ToDo is able to sync with the Samsung Reminders app which would give you more consistent looking widgets, while those ToDo Tasks would be able to be shown in your Calendar app too.

Thanks all for the replies. None worked unfortunately.

When I mark a task as Complete it stays in the widget as an active task. Same if I Delete it.

Sometimes when I do a refresh the widget just hangs as per the screenshot below.

I had no such problems on my trusty old Huawei.

I think I'll use the built-in app. It's not my preference but I'm not minded to invest the time and effort to find another app that suits my needs then try and migrate may tasks.
