Screen brightness bug with new uodate

Has anyone got an issue with controlling their screen brightness. Like it still dims but it doesn't go to the peak brightness anymore. Adaptive brightness is off and extra brightness is on... But the screen is very dim

To confirm- hold down on the brightness settings in quick pannel- you say your device has extra brightness enabled? Does the sun icon go orange and its still dim? *image attached

Make sure you dont have any power saving modes which could cause this. Settings- battery- power saving

If i turn adaptive brightness on it reaches the peak brightness and adjust to the light around, it work for me all the time, also make sure if there's no poverty saving mode on.

I have the same problem on an A55 G5 which is on the Android security patch level of 1st of april. With the brightness set to  full, battery saving off and adaptive brightness disabled, the lock screen is bright, but as soon as you unlock and go to the homescreen the screen starts dimming. I tried restarting to no avail.

looking on the internet this seems to be a general issue with android (https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/17rda3u/solved_android_home_screen_dimming_issue_check/ and https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/239722789/dim-wallpaper-issue-on-android-14?hl=en ) where a easy solution is not available. It would be nice if the cause could be found and a solution would be available without giving the phone a factory reset or having to jailbreak it.
