S24 Ultra camera is INCREDIBLY bad.

First off, let me preface this by saying that I am NOT an apple fanboy or something. I have never had an iPhone. My very first first smartphone was the Samsung S4 in 2013 and I have had a few more Samsung phones prior to purchasing the S24U. I have had the S24U since February so I've tried all of the tricks to try to fix this camera already. It is NOT user error. Stop gaslighting people. It is a software/hardware issue.

Taking a photo in dim light completely strips the photo of detail and is so noisy it's almost laughable. Trying to take a picture of a moving subject like a kid running around or a pet, 9/10 times it will come out blurry. The 50MP and 200MP cameras have so much post-processing, it looks terrible and renders the camera almost useless. I swear to god my 2016 Motorola phone that was $399 new took better photos. You can actually see in REAL TIME the photo go from a normal, accurate photo to a complete mess with inaccurate color, loss of detail, etc. My OnePlus 7 Pro that I "upgraded" from takes better photos...

The advice given from people who say "The camera isn't that bad" or "You just have to learn how to use it" is an absolute JOKE!

1. "Just use 12MP only, bro"

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of the camera having the 50MP/200MP sensors? That was one of the selling points of the camera. The 12MP has garbage detail too. This is not a "fix", this is just admitting that 50MP/200MP are broken and useless.

An even more frustrating piece of "advice";

2. "Just use Expert Raw and Pro Mode!"

So now I have to install a separate app? I have to manually change the camera settings like a DSLR from 2008?! This is a CELL PHONE CAMERA. Every cell phone camera is designed to be a point and shoot camera. If I want to take a picture of my toddler running around, I should be able to open the camera and click the capture button without it being a blurry mess. Even LOW BUDGET PHONES are able to accomplish this. Who is messing around with aperture, focus, and shutter speed on a cell phone camera outside of niche photography circles? It's insulting to even suggest this as a "fix".

Ridiculous advice and just a deflection from the fact that Samsung has given us a camera that is arguably worse than many $300 phones. Comparing this camera to my wife's iPhone 15 Pro Max... it's night and day which camera is better and produces CONSISTENTLY better photos. A friend has the new Pixel... WOW, that's a fantastic camera.

I really regret buying this S24U. I have been hoping that a software update would fix the camera, but I really believe it's impossible. Seems like a mix of software/hardware limitations that probably aren't easily fixed remotely. That's the real reason there hasn't been an update yet.

I agree. My gf iPhone 16 pro Max destroys the s24. The iPhone has real true to life colors, almost no noise even in low light, and shoots 24mp in dim light. The s24 ultra always has a high ISO and tends to over expose so you have to bring down exposure in almost all your pics before snapping the shot, shoots low res 12mp and if you shoot 50mp or 200mp indoors or less than ideal lighting, it looks soft, orangy and just horrible. In bright direct sunlight it is overshapened and looks too digital with lots of haloing. The 50mp and 200mp is unusable if you're not in extremely bright sunlight. Even with indoor shooting with bright indoor light, the 50mp and 200mp is just useless on skintones. Only time the 50 and 200mp works is landscape shots during daytime and shots of objects outdoors during daytime.

I'm am dying laughing right now thank you for this. The best photos I've ever taken on my phone were with the 200mp and at night. Expert and raw aren't seperate apps 😂 have you tried cleaning your lenses? Do u have protectors on them? I had them and fog got behind them I took them off and my quality was perfect as anything from them on for anything I need it for. Chill. Also you need to learn to use expert if you want no grain in night photos because on auto it cranks up the iso which grain is literally what iso is. or just use the dedicated nightmode. You dOnT wAnT aPp. So I won't tell you to look up how to get extra camera features on s24u either. You can just use default and type away where no matter what you say what are you hopping to have happen like did u want them to update it just for you special ass?

You need to go in your setting in camera app and change some stuff to get the best quality you have it set to take the fastest picture possible by default so that's what its Don g and not giving it time to focus. Do you click the people on the screen to get it to focus on them before yo Lu take the photo?

The iPhone has VERY few settings on it s24u on the other hand? TONS. If you haven't optimized them your not going to see it's full potential and you need camera assistant to really unlock the camera

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!! What's the problem with this camera???

The S24 looks to be a LEMON!!! Why haven't they fixed this??? I take close-up photos of CDs and different things to sell. THE PHOTO CAMERA DOESNT FOCUS THE WHOLE PICTURE!!! Try it on a DVD!!! The top of the DVD is not in focus or the bottom. It doesn't focus a whole photo with a close-up OR a distance shot. I take photos of things from a distance and the whole picture does not focus!!!! It loses focus slowly from the center out. All of this even after I attempt to focus the camera by holding the button to focus. On 3:4 , 9:16 , 1:1 , or Full.

My last camera was an S10e . IT TOOK A BETTER PICTURE WITHOUT HAVING TO FIDGET ANYTHING!!! POINT AND SHOOT!!!

Please fix it or be honest about NOT being able to fix it. Thanks.

I was using pixel 5 before buying S24 and let me tell you that it is the biggest regret to buy it. Even if I take a short video and make a snapshot from a frame of it, that will be better than taking a photo. Screen light and night mode is so crapy as well, when switching from pixel 5 I noticed a big difference as someone has sensitive eyes to all kinds of light. Wasted..

This all is quite strange. Here is the example of pictures , that I made with the different optimisation settings and also different softening settings bioth with S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra. All of them are either not good or bad ion terms of diealing with the noise. The only one which is better than other is  RAW processed in Lightroom . I hope Samsung listening and will improve it.
