S24+ asks for passcode even though I have finger print enabled for phone unlock. It keeps asking for passcode just few minutes after I have used the phone. Is there a feature or setting i need to look at for it to not ask for passcode within few minutes. This has become very annoying

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Customer to Customer Forum

Periodically, your device will ask for the pin even though you have fingerprint set up. This is a key security feature.

Similar in some respects to contactless chip and pin, occasionally you are requested to enter your pin by your bank.

It is standard and designed to secure your device.

After how many minutes of use does it ask for passcode? is this the same with face unlock too?

Hi there

You can go weeks at a time before it asks for your pin. Once you've entered it, it can be days or weeks again.

I think it might be based on a range of algorithms including the number of times you unlock your screen, by which method etc.

Yes same with Face Lock.

For fingerprint, it needs the code every 72 hours. Face unlock is much shorterScreenshot_20241122_013308_Settings_1000052916_1732239202.png

That is what not happening. It shouldn't ask passcode for 72hrs but i am prompted for passcode every time i want to check something on the phone. I even enabled extend lock and that is even not helping. Am i missing something. It actually worked perfect a few days i bought the phone..

Hi @raghuk84

I can appreciate how frustrating this may be.

As a first step to troubleshooting please try > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-start-my-galaxy-device-in-safe-mode/

The secondary step is > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/

You may need to hook up the phone to a computer with a data cable , or even a Tv's USB Port to instigate the recovery menu.

If you perform a forum search you may find similar threads to yours with help and advice within.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate to ask.  😎

Translation: Me too, every time. Switched to the sgalaxy a15 in November because it seemed to be a nice phone, I think so. PIN code really very annoying, why is there a fingerprint unlock? Doesn't make any sense anyway. When you enter the PIN code, it also turns on immediately. No fingerprint requiredDannyT_0-1737807535675.png
