Long story short I had three different s24u devices to check the displays, all devices showed this weird film grain defect.

1 pre order, release date device. Vietnam.
1 samsung exclusive colour (Feb) made in Vietnam.
1 new stock, gray, (Feb) made in Korea

Last device made in Korea was newly brought in stock for the UK.

All three devices had this oled mura grain,
I'm assuming that Samsung has just decided to cut corners on their displays.

I have a couple of colleagues that also have the s24u and will ask them if I can check their displays.

So far seems most units have this, I don't know if people who claim that they don't have this issue actually know what mura looks like.

Anyways food for thought.

DXOMARK admitted that their screen had grain.

You can see it in the comments of the s24u screen review:

Like the banding issue many users worldwide face, I am also facing a grainy screen problem.

Samsung's attitude about this issue is disappointing. Many people worldwide write about this problem on forum websites and contact service centers, and we only get "it is normal for AMOLED screens" as an answer.

This is not the first time in our lives we have used AMOLED screens. This is called the Mura effect, and you know it. Moreover, you know this is not normal. There is no such issue on the S23 Ultra or iPhone when you give them the screens.

The Mura effect is not just a problem when we use the phone indoors with dark themes. Watching films/TV series with dark scenes , etc., is disgusting.

This cannot be normal for a phone that claims to have the "best screen ever." Even watching films or using dark themes on the A52s is better.

If Samsung keeps this attitude, they are going to lose many customers.

No because not every post has to be a scientific study, I don't get paid to write this. This is a public announcement for people who can do their research and Google the evidence online.

Plenty of post with images and methods to charts for mura on your phone.

Some people just dont know any better and can't tell their device has mura.

Regardless I had three units and all three had mura.

Put your device in dark mode go to the Samsung members app and send a picture you can tell if you have mura or not.

Your reply is hilarious. Why? You drop a bomb without any proof to backup your claim and when asked to provide the method you used, you point out to Google? Its not meant to be scientific study is a kids response. And I say there is no such thing on my display at all. Even the green uniformity is solid on mine, unlike what Dxomark have shown. So guess they also got a lemon.

But point being, you should take a note from the topics regarding the camera issues where photos are used to showcase the matter. Peopel are not showing the door to Google there. It is that easy, or is it too difficult for you to do that? If so, my deepest apologies.

This post is for the users who are advanced enough to do their research if they want.

If they search s24 ultra mura or grainy screen they can easily see what the effect looks like as it's been plenty documented online and plenty of people already showing how to check for it.

I'm sorry you're used to being spoonfed everything.

And some users like yourself probably don't know any better and that's why Samsung can get away with putting out these faulty screens.

Anyways here's the proof since you need everything handed to you

Left side s24u right side s23u

Do you see that pronounced noise on the left picture text box? That's mura.

You would be smart to know that the green image dxomark provided was not a simple RGB test you do... It is done with special imaging sensors to show the luminance uniformity of the pixels in the screen...

It's luminance mapping... (Basically a graph) not a green image on the the display showing as a picture. (That's why you have a gradient showing on the side)

Like IR camera it shows you the gradient. To interpret the reading.

This is why we can't have people like you being all smart assy. Being unhelpful PLEASE. 😂😂😂

And we all have those sensors to test, right? In our everyday use. Your point being again?

My point being you don't have the equipment.

So how can you make the bald claim to say "even the green uniformity is solid on mine, unlike what dxomark have shown."?????

Clearly you have no clue what the purpose of the image from dxomark is for. It is not a "green uniformity" test. it's a luminance test.

I don't understand how unbelievably thick you are.

And you missed my point again. Not going to spoonfeed you tho, since now you are turning this into a scientific post. I am so glad to have you around to guide the lost lambs like myself. Regardless, a lot of people seem to not have this issue or do not care about it in their everyday life. Move on, or get your device replaced. Or move away from Samsung. Blasting them with a post without any backing is lame. I am going to thicken even more now, because of pointy fingers like yourself.
