When my phone is off and black screen there's a cpu chip that shows on my black screen. Please tell me this isnt a hardware issue.

Where the fingerprint sensor is? If the phone works fine dont stress-- the fingerprint scanner should be visable under lights when phone screen is off

*image off Google so may look slightly different RLMQtfBavL.jpg

Depends on where the location is. If it's near the Camera Cutout it could be a Sensor Or if it's near the Bottom of the Phone, it's definitely the Fingerprint Sensor

Thing is it was never there before. Yes my phone works fine but thats an eye sore for a 2000 phone. I was never aware of this until this happened to me. Also noticed after the update it showed up.

Does it look like the image I provided? If so, no, it was always there... An update cannot make hardware move, nor make it more visible. The fingerprint sensor has always been visible with a black screen under light, but absolutely not visible enough to be an eyesore. By the sounds of it, I'm assuming you're talking about something else altogether?

Care to provide an image to better understand what you mean?

It is the picture above. Thank you for the fast reply. I've replaced my screen protector atleast 4 times and today I finally noticed it. The software update may not be the issue that caused it but it was never ever there before. And I've work in wireless mobile industry for years and transfered 1000s of Samsung phones for my clients and never once I've seen this on any of the device.

Unsure what to say, as this has always been a thing. It's true; it's harder to see with a screen protector-

I will note that on newer Samsung devices, it was pushed more forward to allow it to work better. I've only ever seen it without a screen protector, screen off, and under direct light

When I meant 4 times I've replaced the screen protector I've always look super close under light for dust particles.  Never once I've seen or heard of this issue. Again I've applied 1000s of screen protectors for 1000s of phones. I never once saw it. From s to note series to a series you name it. Just seems faulty. And im a super die hard samsung consumer. I live and die by samsung and I've always tell customers samsung over apple everyday lol. But this really turned me off
