Modes and routines failing to open apps.

I have a routine set up so that everyday at 2:40 PM it will open duolingo (im incapable of just remembering to do it) but for some reason 9/10 times it fails and says it can't perform the action due to there being no app selected (I keep selecting duolingo and even the 'do a lesson' action). 

I've got no idea as to why this happens aside from whether it's to do with when the logo changes (which happens stupidly often) but i feel as though that shouldn't affect it as they should run off two different things, but I guess that if it the way it changes the logo causes it to change the app or something like that then it might cause it but I don't think that's very likely personally). 

If anyone knows why or has the same problem but has fixed it please do say.

I am presuming you are using the 12 hour clock format and not 24 hours.

As otherwise would 14.40.

Yes I use 12 hour.

I just tried with Dominoes and the app was already open on my specific time when I unlocked the phone.

Do you have battery saver etc activated? As that might be the cause.

I do sometimes have it on but very rarely at that time.

But at least it appears to work for others/other apps
