Mom of a 8-month-old here. And an unhappy owner of S24 Ultra. Taking a good photo of my child indoors is impossible. I downloaded Expert Raw - at first I thought it's the answer to find out - after a while - it's even worse! I hate this phone. I paid too much for the privilege of terrible terrible photos. And hey, yes, I've tried everything that was recommended on here. I was a very loyal Samsung customer for over 10 years. Now, I'm going to buy something else, possibly iPhone... I just wanted to let Samsung people know.

The big issue is, that when using zoom above 1x in 200m or 50m results in a lower m photo being saved. I can't test 200m on my S24 plus. But for me, when I zoom in 50m, a photo is saved as 12m. I believe in this conversion, horrible artifacts are added due to compression. They clearly look like jog artifacts and over sharpening. Pro Mode does this as well and also export raw does this.
Only when I use upscale ng from camera assistent app, will the 50m in photo mode keep the mp as 50. I find it just nada strange and horrifying that it's being cropped when at a zoom level other than 1.
You can simply test this by going to 50m in other modes, zoom in, and review the photo. Then swipe up and you'll noticed the resolution has changed

The issue is the change in resolution when zooming ng. This changes adds ton of artifacts. Possibly due to saving algorithm

I feel the same, my wife has a iPhone 14 and it is much better at photos, even though it is not the "Flagship" Max.
My parents have Google pixels, and in direct comparison I can never get my S24 to look good. I have long been a Samsung customer, since the S2, and it they have always had great cameras, but this is the poorest if have seen. My whole family has actually switched away from Samsung because of this. We are power users that upgrade every year.
I don't get how the reviews put the s24 so closely with other Flagships, because it is, in my daily use, only sort of the same as my S21 or s22, a couple generations old.
I seriously question if there is a legitimate problem with my S24 ultra, because even in good light the results are poor, no matter what I do.
