Hi All,

Isn't it absolutely ridiculous that Samsung have call recording functionality available in the US and South Korea but not the UK?

If you request it, they say they can't have it due to security and privacy reasons which is utter *****.

You're legally allowed to record phone calls in the UK provided you let the other party know before the recording starts.

All they need to add is an automated voice so when you hit the record call button, an automated voice states "This call is recorded".

It is extremely frustrating users have been requesting this functionality for years at this point and Samsung simply ignore the requests.

Pretty dreadful for a company that charges £1250 for a flagship phone.

In this day and age especially with how dodgy businesses are, I'm always wanting to record my calls in the event it needs to be used in a court or tribunal.

I'll be considering other phone manufacturers next year.

I see where you are coming from, thanks.

Recording your calls with a business is not "eavesdropping" and is considered good practice from what I hear. Provided you've informed the business you are recording also, it proves very valuable in court or a tribunal as evidence.

To say it is not a good habit is misleading in my opinion. Recording personal calls is not good of course.

Thanks for this. Might need to transition to iPhone again if IOS 18 finally has native call recording functionality.

Correct me if I am wrong, but as far as the law goes only one party needs to consent to a conversation being recorded. So if you personally consent you can legally record the call and not tell the other party. Companies have to tell Joe Public as they are required under Law to be registered and hold a licence under GDPR and abide by it's rules. If you want to upset companies who record calls as standard then after every call send them a Subject Access Request Under GDPR/DPA 2018 and ask for a copy of the recording which they have to provide to you free of charge. Failure to do this within 30 days of receiving your request or just failing to do it without reasonable excuse is an offence under Section 173 GDPR FOIA. And to be honest most call centres are outside of UK EU. So GDPR does not legally apply and the companies who they work for only apply GDPR rules as a gesture of good will with no legal compliance.S173 GDPR FOIA_1000041781_1727984703.jpg

That is inaccurate.

Most calls to and from businesses are recorded for training and quality purposes, and there is no opt-in, just opt-out (by hanging up or pressing a key).

My friend's iPhone allows call recording in the UK. It just tells the other caller that the call is being recorded. It's ridiculous that it's not enabled on Galaxy phones. If Apple have enabled it on iPhones, why are Samsung not enabling this feature on Galaxy phones!?

My daughters have iPhones, and their phones have call recorder as standard. The caller is told that the call is being recorded. So I do not understand why samsung is not allowing for this
