So I have upgraded my Samsung galaxy s20 5g to a Samsung galaxy s23 ultra
On looking upon my installed apps I came across one on my system apps I don't even recognise but it says installed 😱
The system app i found is called Search Engine Selector next to it is a box with a magnifying 🔎 symbol inside.
I cannot delete this app only force stop or disable it, on speaking with others who have exactly the same device they DO NOT have this system app within their device at all.
On searching on Google it seems its a browser hacker of some sort I have avg installed yet its not picked this up as being a virus 🤔

I'm asking if anyone can please help me with any ideas of how to remove the app or suggest what else I should do.
I have for the time being forced stop on this app but as this device is new to me I'm extremely worried with the security of my phone.
Thanking you in advance for your time and help 🙏

If you go into settings, Device Care, Battery, Background Usage limits, Deep sleeping apps. Click the + at the top of the screen and select the app you want to put into deep sleep mode. This will stop it from ever running in the background. Hope this helps

Have you tried going into Device Care and running Device protection.

If it is a virus or Malware, that should detect and remove it.

Just checked on my handset and it doesn't have this app.

Also, is your phone unlocked or network branded?

I have already done this and its not picked anything up
This is a upgrade phone I'm on 02 and it's purchased from the o2 store I'm now also having issues connecting to my home WiFi network as well which is so frustrating 😑
My home network has no issues in my area and no one else has issues connecting on thier devices to the home WiFi after speaking with a few people some have said it maybe a hardware problem 😩

The app isn't showing up for me to add it to the sleeping app list as I have already tried to do this

It's probably best to take it back to the O2 store where you got it, or your nearest store. They should be able to check it out or replace it if it's a faulty handset
