UI 7 Power Save turn off 5G function

Just got UI7. When power save was on, 5g was capped to 4G. This option is now gone. Is this correct for others?

5g doesn't really use extra power. On early 5g phones like the s20, the chips weren't as good so were quite bad on power. With modern devices, it doesn't make a difference having it on. So why make power save disable it?

Mhh, no, I dont agree. With 5G SA, you are right but with 5G NSA, you are wrong, even Chips are better. With NSA, phones have to use both Technologies and so, phones use more power to transfer data. Most of the cellular providers around the world do not offer 5G SA over their hole network.

I can confirm. Here the same, power save mode does not longer disable 5G. I would like to see this option back

NSA doesn't use both at the same time. But you are correct in them using both. It uses the protocols and communication of 4g then dynamically swaps between the frequency and speed of 5g or 4g. If the 5g icon is solid white, 5g frequencies, white outline means 4g frequencies.

So yes it does use both. It's only ever using 1 at a time.

It swaps based on if the phone thinks 5g is too weak or slower than 4g

Same! Sounds silly, I'm ok with 4G if it means I can use my phone longer when I'm out.

Found a workaroud ,that you can set routine to switch to 4g when power saving is ON it works.
