How do I stop this running in background

Go into apps and tap on the little icon at the end of where it says ' Your Apps ' to allow System apps to show then press Ok at the bottom.

Then scroll down to Search Engine Selector.

You can then block notifications from it there and allow no permissions.

It's a system app. On Reddit, someone has suggested to put the app in optimised mode.

Yes I put it into restricted mode

Do what BandofBrothers has suggested. Find the search engine in your apps after allowing show all. You will find all the info for the search engine selector.

Yes no permissions and also restricted battery mode too

OK now soft reboot by turning your phone Off and then back On @sarasphotobox 

Where I suggested to go you can force stop it too.

If you've blocked permissions and turned off Notifications then it should stop.

Allow your phone to adjust.
