Hi members,

This is an old problem for me & up until now I had it sorted.
However, for as long as I can remember and it was the same on my previous Samsung phones.
I can't play my music through Samsung Musi on my phone, it get to a track and then just flies through it, banner says unable to play music.
So I downloaded a free music app so I can play my music through that instead
To add, I'm an old bloke, with limited tech knowledge & still using Windows 7..lol.
I have a huge CD collection, I have been burning my selected cd's onto my laptop & then transferring them to my S23 Ultra via a cable & my playlist was around 650 songs, for some unknown reason, 400 of them disappeared and then I've been trying to upload them again to my phone, but each time I do, they just disappear again, that's through the music app I'm using ?
The pre-installed Samsung Music has never worked, like ever ?
Anyone else had similar issues, or any advice, btw, I don't wanna pay out for any streaming stuff, since up until now everything was fine.
Thanks.

Hi @Romarc

I use Spotify and Tidal at the moment, but have decreased my locally ripped music to mainly HiRes albums.

Does each playlist have the cue file, usually .m3u ?

I prefer adding to USB via PC and then to mobile.
Also as per my picture view by folder.

Hi Obsydian, as I said, I'm not tech savvy, so no clue what HiRes is, not interested in Spotify nor Tidal, cue file ? .m3u ? Sorry !
All I've been doing is inserting a cd into my laptop (yes, I still have that facility), burn it, then sync it over to my S23 ultra via a cable, thanks for the input though 👍

To be honest, I forgot a bit the exact process of uploading music via app. What I would suggest is to create a folder on the phone via my files, choose where you would like to store the music and upload or "copy-paste" all the music there.
I would also assume that the music that you think have disappeared is still somewhere in the files on your phone and maybe it's just the particular app that's not set up to have access to a particular folder, so I'd look around my files if I were you, just to make sure it's not still on the phone somewhere.
When you locate the folder, or after you create the folder and upload your music files there, go to app you wish to use for listening and give it access to folders where you have your music files.
Another idea - there are apps, like digital wellbeing or device care that can automatically delete "large files" depending on the settings (another thing to look into).
And last idea, check the app you choose for music listening supports the file format and if it does if there's an option to turn on and off showing of specific format and if that option wasn't changed...
Not sure if any of this would help, they are really basic suggestions, but good luck - if you resolve the issue, maybe let us know what the issue turned out to be? 🙂

Hi Salepetrovic, thanks for that, I've just seen small red x's in my music on my very old laptop, indicating that the file is not recognised, prob age related I reckon, so in the last hour of messing around with this stuff, it could be that somehow maybe a corrupt file has infiltrated my laptop music which I've passed on to my phone, next step is to delete all my music from my laptop, then reinstall it & try again..?
However, plan b, is to go to the Samsung store & see what they say & as to why my Samsung music don't work & has never worked..🤷‍♂️
Thanks though..👍

Hi Romarc, use an app called PowerAmp, which is capable of playing music on all formats. I've been using it for around 10 years.

If that doesn't help, when you rip and burn your CDs, can you try renaming the file to mp3 for example billie.jean.mp3 This simply allows your media player to pick up amd play this common format.

Also, if you can make sure you have your music all in a single phone storage folder called something like 'Music'. This will help you detect the files when using a great music player like PowerAmp.

Thanks KP_76..Here's my latest update. I think my laptop has some kind of bug, fortunately for me, I also copied my music to my Samsung Tablet, long story short I have all my music (600 songs) back on my phone & hope they stay there..👌
But & this is still odd, my Samsung Music still doesn't work, it's showing my 600 songs. But when I try to play anyone of them it flies through & a banner says failed to play, I was in the West End today & popped into the Samsung Store in Oxford St, very helpful young man in there, spent 40 minutes doing stuff on my phone in an effort to fix the issue with the Samsung Music app but was unable to fix it & recommended I continue using the music app which I've been using for ages....But here's the thing, he says to me, quote 'I'm not the first one in here with the same problem, he's had 5 or 6 people in with exactly the same problem'...What ! I say, Samsung apparently are aware of this issue & surprisingly it doesn't affect all S23 Ultra phones, wonder if its been sorted for the S24's...let's email Samsung direct, see what they have to say....🤔

Hi Romarc, that is strange. It appears there is compatibility issues with certain music formats and the Samsung app.

I'll be honest with you, I have never used the Samsung Music App before. But do try the PowerAmp app and see if that helps you. Sometimes, a 3rd party music player will give you better results, especially a powerful old school one like PowerAmp. It's free (paid version unlocks more features if you want), give it a try.
