s23 Ultra missing the contacts scrolling index

amsung Galaxy S23 Ultra , and now the alphabet that used to be visible in the contacts list on the right hand side of the phone, going down, is gone now and is replaced with dots so I'm unable to go straight to the letter to find the contact I'm looking for.

Does anyone have a fix.?

If you press the dots the letters filter pops up, you can scroll down to the letter of the contact

Tries pressing the 3 dots or the dots on the right does not work.

Alphabet visibility gone long ago now all you have to do is just place your finger on a dot and scroll up or down, you will see alphabetical order appears.
