Just thought I'd share a few photos of macro ,always looks brilliant with flowers and another tip is if you have a pet get close with macro and pull the camera back a bit ,you can get some good shots .

I'm not much of a photographer, but I have noticed the difference in the right setting. Photo enthusiasts must love it!

Please post specific camera setting details, I have a brand new s23 ultra but cannot figure out how to take macro close ups of insects, spiders, etc. Any specific setting advice please?

I think there is something not right with close ups. I had s21 ultra before and it took great close ups s23 does not. I'm wondering why.

Here's my best attempt at macro so far (still experimenting)...
1.9x zoom, pro mode, wide, manual focus, optimiser on.

If you find a better settings combination, please do share.
I found that, if too close to the subject (even with 0x zoom), the image will not come into focus.
At 2x zoom, the next lens is activated.20230407_155235_1000000423_1680879158.jpg

Macro mode is awesome,

But why is auto point and shoot so terrible, I was shooting photos and videos for my daughters sports day at her preschool, and all the grass and trees looks so unnatural. Way over saturated and a mess. I tried standard 3:4 50mp 3:4 and 200mp 3:4
Scene optimiser is off, my screen is on natural mode. Look at that 2nd picture of the river and trees, that is straight up garbage colours, those trees weren't so vibrant to my eyes, the photos before the processing happened looked great then boom. I always had Samsung phones and never had issues with macro photography but now with S23 Ultra, it doesn’t work very well anymore at all. All four lenses are made for wide and telephoto. If I focus e.g. a flower in a landscape, it keeps focusing the background automatically and even using manual focus didn't help much. Even my Samsung S8 used to take better macro photos.
Another big disappointment in the camera and picture editor is that now, you don't have the tone curves anymore in the editor app of the gallery as S8 has. Back then it was so simple to quickly upgrade photos with a few taps in the editor.
Here is a photo of a butterfly on the window. Had to move the camera away half a foot in order to get the slightest focus and then apply zoom. Macro as a simple feature to select in camera modes would have been so much easier...20230712_133418_1000106800_1689165258.jpg
