New update doesn't fix bricked 6.1 update

So back in March 2024 I updated my perfectly working phone to the 6.1 update. Immediately after updating my touch screen stopped working. After constant back and forth with Samsung, sending my phone off and getting quotes of £1300 to fix it (which Is absolutely ridiculous and absolutely not fault of my own)

So after quite a lot of arguments with Samsung I was assured by a few customer service reps that I'd be best to just wait it out until the next update which will fix the issue, because the issue is entire down to the Samsung 6.1 update.

Well what a crock of dung that turned out to be!! Still after the newest update my phone is still sitting in the drawer unusable whilst I'm continuing to pay £88 a month!!! I am absolutely disgusted to say the least! How are Samsung able to do this?? I've been a loyal customer for 15+ years, which I'm sure is the case for a lot of people.

To date I've still not seen one helpful comment from Samsung, they seem to be burying their head in the sand while thousands of customers are in this exact position!!

Just wondered on what is 'bricked' on the phone ? Does it power up ? I guess if you are able to get into menus to update the phone software then it boots, allows you to navigate into the software updater etc ?

Sorry for the confusion... usually 'bricked' is a term used to describe a phone that doesn't do anything, power or boot at all.

Have you tried to perform a full factory reset ?

@Members_FsKZk4z  I realise that some customers have issues with updates though t is not universal. However realise it has ben a frustrating experience,  which Troubleshooting have you tried?  Were you given a reason why a repair would not be covered under the 2 year Warranty, though obviously there are exceptions?

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

I tried every single thing Samsung advised me to do.

It was not under warranty as I had the screen replaced by a 3rd party. Which is understandable why it's not under warranty but I wasn't expecting an update to brick the phone completely as a result of this. It's completely unacceptable

No the phone powers on but the touch screen does not work at all. I have tried all the troubleshooting advice given to me and it's still unusable

So it seems that you have had the screen replaced, and since the touchscreen does not work.

🤔🤔

Surely you must see the association between your failure and the non-regulated repair by someone other than samsung..

I would take your phone back to the repair shop you had it done... I would expect the touch screen has been damaged during this work.

Yes I had it replaced, but about 4 months prior to the update. Which worked perfectly fine after the replacement but not after the update.

Some issues may be latent... and not show straight away.

There may even be some association to the update but fundamentally it is most likely due to the work that was carried out.

The touch screen is layered with the glass and very easily damaged during replacement.

One would have thought if the issue was truly due to the software update that there would be more of a widespread issue.

There are actually a few other complaints of similar so it is worth searching the forums for similar cases and what their solution appeared to be.

Good luck

It couldn't be just coincidence or my damaged screen as it has happened to everyone who's had a 3rd party screen replacement.

I've researched this as much as I possibly could, I've done absolutely everything possible to fix this issue and when speaking to the people who fixes the Samsungs in the shop they have said it's a serious problem with the update. Nothing to do with anything else. And that Samsung are very much aware of the issue as there have been tens of thousands of phones effected the same as mine.

You'd think Samsung would do something about it.

£1300 to fix?
What were they looking at replacing?
Screens shouldn't be even half that price.
Could be if the screen is a third party made one.
Sometimes software will have optimisations that will include operational adjustments.
If the screen is not recognised by the software, I can see this happening.

If you have home contents insurance, quite often these have extra perks like smartphone repairs included.
Some bank accounts include smartphone cover as well.
Just a couple of ideas if it helps
