Using Gesture navigation helps resolve many of these issues. As a life long button navigator in Android, I made the switch last year sometime and I've been accustomed to it now. Admittedly it did take quite a few hours of brain training and rethinking how I navigate my device, but it has made the experience far more seamless overall.
