Hi,
Since the recent update I've noticed that when the phone is not open (IE: the phone is on but the screen is black) when I get a notification / message - the little popup that pings at the top of the screen appears but it's so dark I can barely read it unless i bring it very close. Before the update, it was the same brightness as the unlocked phone but now its so dark.
When I push the side key, the phone goes onto the normal lock screen at normal brightness and everything is fine.
I've restarted the phone and that hasn't change anything. I've tried all the settings I can find but it's not doing anything to brighten the initial notification screen (when the screen is black). When I go into 'Notification pop-up style' when in the edge lighting style setting the example notification pop up is at normal brightness but that's not how bright it is when the phone screen is off.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Sure they think for you they decide for you they don't think about the customer what's practical what's usable what makes things easier no they decide to take it away because they don't think it belongs there I've had it this is the second time I've had issues with one of their updates this will be my last Samsung phone

The new update as of April 13, 2024 doesn't give this option. AOD is dim can't really see it. I've tried powering phone off n clearing as samsung suggested. Did nothing. I hate this new update. I can't see my notifications or AOD screen.

I found the "fix" for this if anyone is interested. Seems odd this thread is this old and still no one from Samsung has replied with why the removed these options. The issue is, the Samsung One UI 6.1 update caused the brightness options for always on display to not be shown anymore. To be able to access this function again, you can do the following:
1.) Open the Galaxy Store application on your phone.
The application is now called 'Store'.
2.) After the app is open, press Apps at the bottom of the screen.
3.) Now, at the top right-hand corner of the screen, click on the magnifying glass to search for an application called "Good Lock" and install it.
4.) Open GoodLock and install LockStar.
5.) Open LockStar (the app can be opened within GoodLock).
6.) Toggle the "Always On Display Auto Brightness" off and then increase the brightness
7.) Also, in my case, I did not want the always on display enabled but I still wanted to see text notifications on the locked cover screen. I have a Samsung Galaxy Flip 6.
I did the following:
Settings -> Notifications -> Notification pop-up style
I had to leave it at the option for 'Brief' because you have to toggle on the option for "Show even while screen is off".
Hope this helps someone.

The dim issue has been annoyed me for a week. Now finally resolved:
Lock screen and AOD/Always On Display//When to show: Change to Always (default is Tap to show).
