Strange symbol in notification bar.

I have an image looking like a letter N made up of 2 arrowee type shapes. Could anyone tell me what this means and how I get rid of it please? Thank you.

That is NFC. That is the thing that allows contacless payments. You can turn it off in Settings > Connections

If you swipe down and look for the NFC option.
Tap on this and it will go off

You need that to make payments with your phone.
