This doesn't happen constantly but when using some apps including the phone app I suddenly get the settings menu appearing for no apparant reason. I can back out of it usually and carry on but some apps like a unit converter I cannot continue and use the app at all.

This has been happening since the Jan 24 update. Factory reset has not made a difference and I have not changed any settings recently.

Anyoneelse with similar issue?

Do you use a case?

Also of you do remove the case and see if it happens.

Also clean your screen while you are at it .

Just use a silicon back/edge sleeve and seperate screen protector, all spotless. When it happens it is repeatable so it isn't a random thing caused by outside influences. I'm positive it is a software problem.

Have you tried the diagnostics from the members app?

You could do the touch screen, proximity sensor etc.

It's an odd 1 but if you use the diagnostic 1st to check hardware etc then if you have reset on this app goto support and Feedback choose error report and send it to samsung, I've had to do that before and they do reply...

Got my issue solved, not that I can remember what it was, was on an older phone aswell so I can't complain

Just tried the diagnostics and the touch screen test passes ok. Interestingly the only test I couldn't complete was the speaker because pressing the start button bring up the android settings screen and when i back out i am back at the start button again, so I can't get anywhere - good example as to the problem.

Am going to try factory reset again and try a few things before restoring the phone....

Maybe take into a Samsung repair shop.

Could be a screen protector issue or screen issue.

If you think it's software issue.

You could do a wipe cache and repair apps when there.
Or
Factory reset.

I reset the phone but instead of restoring it from a backup I copied the setup from my S9 tablet. I had no data (pictures, files, bla bla) since everything I want to keep goes to Onedrive. Most stuff including Tasker routines were almost identical, it certainly is now! which is good.

So far the phone is behaving normally, perhaps it was something I had been messing about with caused the problem. When I was younger I would have drilled down into the problem and all that but now I don't have the energy. I used to root my phone and write all sorts of bells and whistles using Java, Python, Kotlin, C# and/or C++, but these days I fall asleep just thinking about stuff.

Thanks for all the comments and stuff everyone.
