So I bought the new S21 Ultra on the pre order the day it was announced. I was one of the lucky ones to get early so I could leave a review.
Coming from a Note 10+ that I had for a year and a half, I was really excited for the S21 Ultra, but was really disappointed with the battery life. I've had the phone for 5 days now and since the very beginning I've not been able to use the phone for the whole day on a single charge. It's been giving me screen on times comparable to my Note 10+ (4/5 hours) which is a much older device, but I thought maybe this was the way all S21 ultra's were behaving, just not very good battery life.
BUT, yesterday all the youtubers started to publish they're videos comparing batteries with older S devices and Iphones and their S21s were doing amazing, giving them screen on times of up to 13 hours!
I contacted support but they said this would be normal as my phone was still learning user patterns... but I'm not sure if that would affect it as bad as it is at the moment.
What do you guys think? Should I send the phone back? I'm really concerned that I just spent all this money on a new phone for it to be so bad with battery.

Hey guys, I've just read something interesting, most of the devices with lower performance are sold outside of the big metropolitan cities, while the people living in the big cities are having a better performing devices, also most of the people with lower performing devices are bought from carrier companies and not straight from samsung, so maybe samsung shipped lower performing devices to people outside the big cities and also shipped lower performing decices to carriers, so lets came all together in this one and say where you bought your devices (big city or small towns and also if you bought the devices from a carrier or straight from samsung).
Maybe is all bull***** or maybe Samsung just trying to lower the production costs of the devices, ship good devices to the bigger cities and *****ty ones to small towns and carriers.
I personally bought the device through a carrier and I live outside the big city

@Juan greenfield I got mine from T-Mobile NL in the Hague. I do not really think there is a correlation between the performance and where we got the devices, but who knows. If all post, we might see a pattern?!

Don't you just love how Samsung is completely ignoring this thread, with apparently 50+ forum pages of people with battery problems?

I don't even know what sort of battery life I am suppose to get out of this ***** thing. Don't want to become paranoid but also don't want to be complacent sitting with a dud.

Last night the battery's phone died again.., Went to bed at around 21.30 with 41%, this morning at 7am the phone was dead. I am using another phone to use the alarm because hey, apparently you cant rely on a 1300 Euro phone. This happened after I have factory reset the phone. I did it because the previous 10 days of use was doing the same. Simply, the battery drains like a Sun is burning through ice. I am disappointed in a grotesque way/

get a replacement phone that's just really bad.
I am disappointed with my battery performance but you have it way worse. I manage to squeeze 5 hours of screen on time with adaptive brightness and 120hz on wqhd. Although I have set bixby routines to set 60hz on messaging apps or on apps where I will be typing.
I expected more from the phone really.

Well I've started a Youtube video battery drain test now. Let's see how long it lasts from 100%.

it will last a lot, because if you use the phone without putting it down it will take 8-9h to drain, the problem is with the standby drain, when the phone is not being used. The battery drains on youtube are not quite relevant to daily use because nobody uses the phone from 100% to 0% without putting it down

I suppose you're right yes. I've also noticed unusual standby drain. 20% overnight for instance.
