Got new S21. When I send a message via chat it has the original number of the phone not my number. Can anyone help?

Ok so this is what typically happens when number porting into a network and bringing your own number with you at a later time @Tom1163

  • The network assigns a temporary mobile number to the sim they've supplied so you can remain contactable while your network uses the Pac you gave to them.
  • The sim they supply has this temporary number associated with it.
  • The network then eventually port your own mobile number to that sim card.
  • The issue can be that your phone still recognises the original temporary number.

The way round this is to ask your network to sim swap your number to a blank sim card so your own number is the only one that has been associated with it.

Or sometimes a factory reset helps as this deletes everything off.

Hi @Tom1163

What phone number is showing on your about Phone section ?

Also in your phone app is your own main contact at the top ? Does it show your own number ?

What do you mean when you say showing the original number of the phone?

Did you have a temporary mobile number before porting your own mobile number from a previous network to your current network @Tom1163
