UI3.0 on S20 with dual SIM

So I got the UI 3.0 update a week or so ago and looks great on my S20 Ultra.

However, I am now stuck with having to specify which SIM to use for calls (calls can actually ask each time - this alone messes up the car connection with it not being able to connect to make a call unless i ILLEGALLY touch my phone) and SMS with no obvious way to change.

So in effect I now have a phone with 2 SIMS but without the usability I signed up for.

<sarcasm>Well played Samsung, well played </sarcasm>

Anyone figured out how to work this one out? or downgrade UI 3.0?

Just updated my s10e. Noticed the new dual sim setup, searched online and found this page! Looks like I'm not they only one upset. I see that holding down the call button then expands to gives option to choose which SIM to call from. Annoying now have press twice instead of simply tapping once. Please bring back the two separate buttons Samsung.

The "solution" above is not really a practical one as it assumes that the issue only affects callers in my address book.

For calls, the "always ask" option can be "tolerated" however, this comes at a cost; the extra press means that android auto is just not able to make calls. I have tried everything and now have to disconnect Android Auto and just use a Bluetooth connection while in the car. This means that I have to touch the phone to ensure that I am using the correct line for a call.... Backwardness or what???

For texts, it is just plain "stupid". Sometimes there is a floating button telling you which SIM is in use and other times it does not exist.
Sounds like a bug in the code.
IF common sense was applied then the programmers could simply have coded that text messages should be responded to from the SAME number on which they were received. At least it will mean that I am not responding to work messages from my private line and vice versa.

At the moment, it is totally random. Even with a 3rd party application, there is no plugin to select the line to use, so that too is a "dead end".

The most irritating bit is that when you have composed a response to a message, if you notice that the line selection is wrong and try to change it, the entire message is deleted.

It is lazy programming on so many levels.

The first check before software release is to ensure that current functionality has not been deprecated.

Samsung bring back the older system. The new one makes it impossible to make phone calls while using Android Auto.

I concur with above comments - the loss of the dual sim option especially when texting has caused endless frustration and confusion. I use the dual sim option to avoid carrying a work and private phone and to keep both parts of my life separate! Now some business associates who I only contact via the work sim have my personal number which I am not happy about. I have set the defaults and gone through the pain of manually accessing EVERY contact to ensure the default phone is relevant (personal v business) and yet the phone still changes the sim randomly. The CX & UX are poor and cumbersome - the option to change is on separate screens and not at forefront of sight when typing text (top v bottom of screen) . The loss of the little sim identifier beside each message in a text conversation also needs to come back - with some contacts I have both personal and business conversations using the different sims to ensure the work sim only has business communication as we are in breach of policy if the sim is used for personal texts and calls. I now can't see which message was on which sim in conversations (past or present) and if I realise the phone has randomly changed the sim again I lose the message I was typing - poor form Samsung ..... please revert to the previous dual sim capacity

Hi,

Looks like problem exists, everywhere but is scattered to multiple topics, this:
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/pozosta%C5%82e-smartfony/poradnik-obs%C5%82uga-dual-sim-w-androi...
This is Polish forum. It is really stupid that Samsung workers not consulted this with anybody beside their room.
Let's wait for update on A50 and other budget phones, owners will hit forums hard but i don't believe this will give us solution.
...because samsung knows better and treat their customers like garbage.

Well at least Samsung/Android have fixed the problem with making phone calls using the Android auto!

Keep it up and please continue the fixing 👍🏻

EDIT. No, it hasn't been fixed. There was some sort of temperary "error" where making calls was possible, but it doesn't work anymore..

your work colleagues have to comply with GDPR if you advise the number is personal and you'd like them to delete it

@snee and All here - This same issue has been posted on many other Samsung Community threads worldwide. Unfortunately to this date, there has been no acknowledgement from Samsung in any country with respect to this huge mistake impacting all Dual SIM devices worldwide. The UI 3.0 has been a nightmare user experience for Dual SIM calls and text messages, and while we wait for Samsung to eventually fix this (hopefully in the next update), well, the only temp solution is to revert back to a previous version of Samsung Software.

Use ODIN to flash Android 10 with UI 2.5 (includes secuity patch December 2020) to your Samsung device and bring back the Dual SIM1 + SIM2 buttons for both calls and messages.

Note: Back up All your data (contacts, calls, media, etc) as the process to revert back to previous version of Samsung software requires Factory Reset.

I have a Note 10+ and this worked for me!!!
