S20 ultra - Main camera and video SHAKE

Main camera preview and video all of a sudden shake like crazy resulting in blurry photos and wavy videos.

I have not dropped or caused this phone any trauma. All the stabilization settings are on. And I have a steady hand.

 

I noticed there is no shake at all when i switch to the wide angle lens but the shake/waves are much worse when the 5x zoom mode is used.

The attached is the motion photo saved as gif to allow upload to this post. This is what i see when I open my camera app or any app that uses my camera. This VERY shaky camera started about a week ago. What is going on?20200528_183912_1.gif

I had the issue after the recent update.

Reboot in recovery mode and wipe cache partition. You will lose some settings but it will fix the camera.

Reboot and it should fix the issue.

Mine has just started doing this!!!!! Iv had it for 1 year and 1 month so bloody typical. I notice that when taking a panoramic photo it's perfect. No jitter at all. And the jitter seems to come and go randomly. Can't explain it at all but so disappointed. Always cussing my woman's iPhone but she's the one laughing now I always have to reach for her phone to take pics. And it takes great pics too. I wish I could again on this phone. Please Samsung.

I have exactly the same issue on my S20Ultra, especially after update the phone to latest version.

1) Camera is blur on photo mode at default Zoom 1x - 3,9x (the other zoom range works fine)

=> But since I have moved to China for my business atm, scanning bar code is one of the MOST common function i need, and this creates a significant impact to my daily activity. I have to take a picture with zoom 0,5x then scan the picture to reach the bar code. 

That is incredible stupid.

2) Now my photo and video mode are shaking by default. => Camera becomes useless as ever.

3)Default  Video editor stops working on my latest update => you can edit your video but it wont let you to save it => another useless function.

4) eSim becomes unsuccessful Roaming anymore after the latest version updated.

5) Vpn is not able to connected after the latest version updated.

I have tried to contact Samsung service chat 3 times.

1st time : it takes 45mins for them to reply me => i quit

2nd time: they ask me to perform some basic steps (eg. reset camera setting, clear camera cache, reproduce on safemode...) => still not fix the issue

3rd time:  they ask me to go to Samsung store :winking-face: 

 

I have used Samsung since S7 edge, and this S20ultra would be the last one for me with Samsung 

So disappointed, the way the phone works as well as the way they support!

Update to this: with the camera app open and it's jittery, a firm 2 finger tap to the side of the phone next to the lenses stops my phone from jittering. No idea why. If yours is less than 2 years old then call Samsung immediately. Im getting lazy and in danger of forgetting but this work around is not going to last long lol!!!

I would back everything up and take it into a Samsung store with proof of purchase and see what they can do there. I still need to do mine.

Having exactly the same issue as OP. Seems to have only started since the last update (~April 2021). Updated all apps and firmware, cleared camera app cache and cleared cache partition didn't resolve it. How did you end up getting it fixed Meganbda?

Yeah it's actually been OK for a few days. Giving it a sharp tap sorted the shake out but I went to try and report it online to Samsung and the guide established I had the latest version 11 os but then prompted me to install something else and it's actually been fine since?? Anyone else still having this issue?
