Possible fix of missing mobile data on S20 FE 5G after Android 11 update

Some of us cannot get mobile data on our S20 FE 5G after Android 11 firmware update. I myself contacted Samsung sevevral times, reset network, reset phone to factory settings, but problem was not fixed.
Actuallu there are 2 possible fixes or workaround, until Samsung releases new firmware to fix the bug.
1) Remove simcard from sim1 tray and insert it to sim2 tray. It seems network mobile data works fine in sim2 tray. However, if you use SD card or 2nd simcard, this may not be an ideal solution.
2) While simcard in sim1 tray disable mobile network and go to
Settings-->Connection-->Mobile Networks-->Network Mode.
From there chose 2G and enable mobile data. Most likely nothing will happen. Then disable mobile data again and go back to Network Mode section and chose 3G. Enable mobile data. You should now get H or H+ sign. If you chose LTE/3G/2G (auto connect), it should give you 4G+ and should stay stable. I could not test 5G, as where I live 5G is not available. Please check and let me know if with this method you are able to get 5G?

I have the same issue, since the latest update I cannot connect to my phone data, I tested my sim in old phone and the data works fine. I tried all suggested fixes and no luck. This is extremely frustrating and inconvenient.

No doubt, AnnaM84. 😞

And to let folks know: it's been flagged at the Samsung end.

I'd also be interested if the below specific steps work or don't work for affected folks:

1. Turn off Mobile Data

2. Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

3. Select and assign APN

4. Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > 2G/3G

5. Turn on Mobile Data. (If it doesn't work, turn off the device for 1 minute and then turn back on.)

6. Slowly work your way up each of the Network Modes

I also have this problem since the update, and pleased to hear that its now a recognised problem.  The second solution in the original post worked for me (2nd slot is used for a memory card).

I also tried the solution set out above from AntS.  This also worked for me.  Note that at step 3) I didn't do anything - the '3' - three.co.uk APN was the only option, and already selected.

As a test, I've actually tried the steps in the post above from AntS omitting steps 2 and 3, and it still works.   I hope that's helpful.

This thread has put my mind at ease as other people are having the same issue. Was on the phone to my network and Samsung all day, Samsung claimed it was a network issue and so I have a new sim coming which looks like won't change anything after reading this thread.

The steps detailed above working the way up the network modes from '2G only' solved my issue of getting no mobile data. I'm in a 5G area and after working up each option the mobile data works on 'LTE/3G/2G' but cut out at the '5G/LTE/3G/2G' option. Haven't tried Sim2 as have a memory card but think I will be able to survive on 4G until a patch is rolled out.

I have exactly the same problem, I called Samsung and they said to put the sim in slot 2 and wait for the update because they knew about the problem and I'm working on it, the data in slot 2 works and in slot 1 it does not

so well you have to wait for an update that will solve the problem.

hi @Libroid

re-flush your APN

1. go to Settings → Connections → Data usage → Access Point Name (APN) → tap three dots → Reset/Clear/Delete APN

2. Restart the phone

3. Select your desired network APN when prompted

gratzx 😀

I tried this method earlier. Unfortunately it did not resolve the issue:( The only method works for me so far is 2nd point as described in my post. However I cannot describe it permanent solution though, as telephone rejects to connect to network automatically.
