Mic issue

So I noticed a week or two ago when filming something that there was no sound at all on the video. I also noticed that the Shazam app wasn't working at all, and that people were having difficulty hearing me on calls.

I used the voice recorder and found that, unless I hold the phone with the microphone right up against my mouth, you can't hear anything. Even with the microphone help right close to my mouth, it's very quiet, almost muffled, and sounds scratchy.

Tried Samsung Repair and Virgin Phone repair and neither have offered any help.

Any diagnosis or advice offered would be great appreciated.

What did Samsung say after inspection @datguysadz

Does this issue happen in one area or everywhere  ?

Hey @datguysadz

Let's first try a Hardware Test on the Mic. This will help narrow down the issue. Head over to your dial pad and type in *#0283#, then select “Start: RCV_1stMic”, speak into your phone like you’re on a call, can you hear yourself talk?

Once you’ve done that select “Start: SPK_2ndMic”, talk into your phone like you’re talking to someone on speaker phone, can you hear the playback? Let me know how you get on.

Hi Danny sorry for the delayed response.

I tried both of your tests. The first one I couldn't hear myself until I held the mic literally right up against my mouth as mentioned originally. The speaker phone appears to be working fine, however.

@datguysadz: If you could not hear yourself clearly during the mic test playback, then I recommend reaching out to our Help Desk via the link below, where an advisor will be able to assist you further, and arrange an engineers inspection under warranty. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Hello, anyone can help me? I have a s7 and the second mic stop working, I made a test with *#0283# and the first Mic works perfect, if I use the headphones its all good, but the second mic (loudspeaker) dont work, but if I use any app to record sound, like filming a video or shazam, it works nice, there is any way to change the settings to use first mic in loudspeaker? thank you very much
